Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- This year's Rhubarb festival also included the Children's Rhubarb Run.
Northland kids met at the rhubarb children's tent this morning, and were split into age groups of 4-6 and 7-10.
Children could choose to run either an eighth or a quarter of a mile around Leif Erickson Park.
Event organizers say that everyone who participates in the run is a winner.
"I was thinking about doing a three mile race and my dream is to run in the marathon. I feel happy. I get to see new things and get stronger. I'm the fastest runner in my class," said 10-year-old runner Hans.
"I felt like I was actually alive! I'm gonna try to train for a marathon," said 6-year-old Mark.
"Rhubarb fest in general is an awesome family event, and we want to give something to the kids to sort of participate in, have them burn a little calories and eat some rhubarb at the end," said Tony Stensland, general manager of the Duluth Running Company.
The Rhubarb Run is sponsored by the Duluth Running Company.
Face painting, coloring contests, arts and crafts, and an on-the-hour story time are just some of the activities that also took place under the children's tent this afternoon.
