Julie Pearce joined the NewsCenter team in June of 2006. She came to the NewsCenter with 7 years of experience in producing small films and documentaries, as a published author, and as a world-traveled performance artist. She began as a full-time editor, quickly transitioned into a one “wo”man band and general assignment reporter, and is currently the weekend anchor for "NewsCenter at Six" and "NewsCenter at Ten". Within her first year of reporting she was the recipient of the Eric Severeid Award for Hard Feature Reporting with her story, “Day In the Life of our Local Homeless”.

Originally from the Orlando area in Florida, she has a true appreciation for the uniqueness of smaller Northern towns. “It is an honor to bring the news to a community that I have come to love and call home, and a joy to dig a little deeper into the stories and lives of great northland people.”

Julie graduated from Fond du Lac Tribal College, where she earned a degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling and Liberal Arts. She also graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a degree in Psychology.

When she’s not doing the news, Julie, known by most as “Jitterbug” for her free-spirited personality, can be found pursuing the next adrenaline packed adventure, scuba diving, working out at the gym, breakdancing, riding her motorcycle, playing music, or relaxing at the local coffee shop. Her motto in life is to “Always live big and follow your dreams!
