Tom has been a NewsCenter sports anchor since 1989. Born in Milwaukee but raised in St. Paul, Tom has the ideal background to cover the Packers and Vikings, Badgers and Gophers, Timberwolves and Bucks, Twins and Brewers, and all kinds of Minnesota and Wisconsin sports and athletes.

Tom received his undergraduate degree from Winona State University and earned his master's degree in communications at the University of Wisconsin-Superior.

In his "spare" time, Tom provides radio play-by-play for the defending National Champion University of Minnesota, Duluth Women's Hockey Team. According to Tom, the scope of Northland's NewsCenter sports coverage is quite broad. "We attempt to cover as much local sports as possible. Scores, highlights, and sports with a story. We like to profile as many of the Northland athletes as we can. Bringing the viewers to the action and letting them experience the emotion of high school, college, and pro sports."
