St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin is not one of the three finalists for this year's Calder Trophy, which is given out each season to the most outstanding rookie player in the NHL. The finalists, announced on Monday morning, are Montreal's Brendan Gallagher, Florida's Jonathan Huberdeau, and Chicago's Brandon Saad. Brodin was considered by many a sure-thing finalist, having topped NHL rookies during the regular season with an average of 23:12 of ice time per game while skating on Minnesota's top defensive pairing with Ryan Suter. The 19-year-old is the youngest defenseman in the NHL, having scored two goals and tallied nine assists through his first professional regular season.
