After Loss, UMD Football Falls to #10 in AFCA Poll

October 1, 2012 Updated Oct 1, 2012 at 8:36 PM CDT

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) football team fell eight spots to 10th in this week's American Football Coaches' Association (AFCA) poll, that after a 51-49 loss at St. Cloud State this past Saturday.

The Bulldogs had been ranked second in every AFCA poll this season, but the team's first loss in 2012 was enough to send them down the list of the nation's top NCAA Division II squads.

UMD has cracked the top 10 in all but two AFCA polls since September 2008, twice winning the NCAA Division II championship in that span.

The Bulldogs are now (4-1) this season and will next be in action on October 6, hosting MSU-Moorhead at Malosky Stadium. That game is set for a 6:00 p.m. kickoff and can be seen on live television in the Northland on the My 9 Sports Network.
