Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Like so many others, racing has always been a family thing for Mark Smith.

"My Dad raced years ago," Smith said. "Then my Uncle Rick, my Uncle Bobby, and then my cousin Brady started racing and took off. I've been watching him for years."

So when he decided to take last year off, well, let's just say that didn't last very long.

"This spring when I sold my Harley," he said. "I had some money so I started looking for a car."

This time around though, instead of buying a Pure Stock, Smith went with a Super Stock.

"It's a learning curve," he said. "It's different than a Pure Stock, that's for sure. I mean you definitely have to drive it different. Hopefully I'm starting to get a handle on it."

There's one thing he already has a handle on, and that's his love for the sport.

"Once you start racing, it just gets in you," Smith said. "You can't stop. It's an addiction."

An addiction that Smith hopes will bring him to the top of the standings with his family by his side.
