Ashland Native is Regional Tourney MVP

St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Ashland, Wis. native and Concordia-St. Paul junior forward Anika Whiting has been named the NCAA Division II Central Region women's basketball tournament most valuable player, it was announced on Tuesday.

Whiting averaged 20.3 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in the tournament for the Golden Bears, including a 26-point performance in the championship game against Emporia State.

The former Oredockers standout, who was also named to the Central Region all-tournament team, will now lead Concordia-St. Paul into the NCAA Division II Elite Eight beginning on March 25.
