St. Paul, MN ( --- The Minnesota Wild has agreed to terms with Niklas Backstrom on Monday afternoon to a three year-contract for the winningest goalie in franchise history.

The 35-year-old played in 42 of the shortened season's 48 games, going 24-15-3 over that time with 2.48 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage.

Backstrom set out the postseason after sustaining a sports hernia injury in the minutes leading up to game one against the Blackhawks.

In his seven year career with the Wild, 6-foot-2 goaltender owns the team's career win mark with 184 victories. He originally signed with Minnesota as a free agent on June 1, 2006.

In 2009, Backstrom was an NHL All-Star and a finalist for the Vezina Trophy, which is given to the league's top goaltender.
