Bjerklie, Thun Lead Local All-State Picks

(NNCNOW.com) --- Cherry senior infielder DeAnn Bjerklie and Hermantown senior pitcher Katie Thun have each been named to the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches' Association (MFCA) all-state first team, it was announced on Tuesday.

Both players led their teams to the state tournament this season, with the Tigers winning a fourth straight title in Section 7A and the Hawks capturing the program's fourth Section 7AA championship in the past five seasons.

Below are listed all of the Northland players who earned MFCA all-state honors following this 2013 season.

Deann Bjerklie (Cherry) --- 1st Team
Kacey Herring (Cherry) --- 2nd Team
Angel Dahl (Cherry) --- 2nd Team
Kirstin Lahti (Cherry) --- Honorable Mention

Katie Thun (Hermantown) --- 1st Team
Macy Francisco (Hermantown) --- Honorable Mention
Mackenzie Herzig (Hermantown) --- Honorable Mention
Carly Hiti (Eveleth-Gilbert) --- Honorable Mention

Sarah Hendrickson (Duluth Denfeld) --- 2nd Team
