Black Posts Shutout, 'Dogs Upset #3 Badgers

Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Freshman goaltender Kayla Black posted 31 saves to earn her first collegiate shutout as the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) women's hockey team upset #3-ranked Wisconsin 2-0 on Saturday afternoon at AMSOIL Arena.

The win was also the first of Black's collegiate career, with the Bulldogs improving to (1-2-0) on the season.

Brienna Gillanders scored the eventual game-winner less than two minutes into the first period, with Jenna McParland adding another late in the third for the Bulldogs.

UMD and Wisconsin will play game two of the weekend series on October 14, with faceoff set for 3:07 p.m. at AMSOIL Arena.
