Superior, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- More than 40 competitors gathered at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds on Saturday for the Wisconsin State Fast Draw Championships hosted by the Black River Bandits as a part of the Cowboy Fast Draw Association (CFDA).
The sport is inspired by the late 1800's and Old West with participants sporting authentic clothing.
Deb Stadin is the reigning Wisconsin State Champion and admits the weekend is about more than just winning.
"We're kind of shooting against ourselves," Stadin said. "You want to get a better shot than you had before. When you've had a fast shot, you want to see if you can duplicate that. There's competitiveness among the other shooters but only when you're on the line."
