Milwaukee, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- The Milwaukee Brewers have traded minor league pitcher Thomas Keeling to the Atlanta Braces in exchange for third baseman Juan Francsico, the team announced on Monday.

The 25-year-old Francisco hit for a .241 batting average and 16 runs batted in over 35 games with Atlanta this 2013 season, but that team designated him for assignment on May 30.

Francisco will wear uniform number 21 for the Brewers and will join the team in time for the June 4 home game against Oakland.

Milwaukee also called up on Monday 23-year-old minor league infielder Scooter Gennett, who was hitting .297 with a .342 on-base percentage at Triple-A Nashville.

To make room for both new players, Milwaukee also on Monday optioned pitcher Mike Fiers to Triple-A and released infielder Alex Gonzalez.
