Milwaukee, WI (NNCNOW.com) --- Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Yovani Gallardo was arrested early Tuesday morning in Milwaukee County for driving under the influence (DUI), registering a blood-alcohol content (BAC) nearly three times the legal limit.
Gallardo first failed a field sobriety test and then later registered a 0.22 BAC, with the legal driving limit in Wisconsin standing at 0.08.
"I made a mistake," Gallardo said during media availablity Tuesday at Miller Park. "I'm sure I lost a lot of respect from a lot of fans. I just want to apologize --- to the fans, my teammates, my family."
Gallardo will be fined a total of $778.80 for the incident, but he will not be jailed because this is his first offense.
In three starts this season for Milwaukee, Gallardo has posted a disappointing (0-1) record with a 6.61 earned run average.
