Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Lakeview Christian Academy senior guard Anders Broman became the first high school player in Minnesota to score more than 5,000 career points as he and the Lions earned a 101-83 win over Fond du Lac Ojibwe in the Section 7A quarterfinals.
Broman scored 49 points in the contest after entering needing just 24 to surpass the 5,000-point plateau, which he did late in the first half on a three-point shot from the top of the key.
The Lions senior became the state's new all-time leading scorer earlier this season, passing the old record of 4,086 during a holiday tournamwent game against Mesabi East in Hibbing, Minn.
Broman now sits at 5,025 points in his high school career, with ex-Minnesota Transitions star Kevin Noreen being the closest to him at 4,086.
Lakeview Christian will now play Ely in the Section 7A semifinals, with that game set for 6:00 p.m. on March 13 at Romano Gymnasium in Duluth, Minn.
