Chicago, IL (NNCNOW.com) --- Brandon Paul hit a long jumper as the buzzer sounded on Thursday afternoon, giving the Illinois men's basketball team a dramatic 51-49 win over Minnesota in the first round of the Big Ten tournament at the United Center in Chicago. The Golden Gophers were led by the 16 points of Austin Hollins, but it was his turnover with 14 seconds left that ultimately led to Paul's chance at hitting the game winner. Minnesota is now (20-12) overall this season and will npw wait and see if that is enough to get them into the NCAA tournament, with selection Sunday set to start March 17 at 5:00 p.m. on KDLH3.
