Sochi, Russia (NNCNOW.com) --- Three former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) players helped Team Canada on Monday morning to a 3-0 victory over Finland, securing a berth for the Canadians in the semifinal round.

Former Bulldog Carolina Ouellette is the captain of Team Canada, with Jocelyn Larocque and Haley Irwin also on the country's roster.

Finland also has UMD representation at the 2014 Games, with current UMD junior defenseman Tea Villila a part of that country's team.

Canada is now (2-0-0) in qualification play and along with the United States has qualified for the semifinals, while Finland will be joined by Switzerland, Russia, and Sweden in the quarterfinals.
