Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Hermantown, Minn. native Jon Carlson has been named the interim executive director of Grandma's Marathon as chosen by the board of directors, it was announced on Wednesday morning.
Carlson has been the organization's race director since 2003, that after serving a little less than a year on the board of directors.
He takes over for Scott Keenan, who announced his retirement this past May after 37 years as executive director. Keenan has been the race's only leader after he started Grandma's Marathon with the North Shore Striders Running Club back in 1977.
Carlson went to college at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and he currently resides in Duluth, Minn. with his wife and two children. He will officially start his duties on Sept. 1.
