Cloquet, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Cherry softball team won its fourth consecutive Section 7A championship on Thursday afternoon, beating Littlefork-Big Falls 8-5 at Braun Park in Cloquet, Minn.

The Tigers will now defend that program's first-ever MSHSL Class A championship, which came at the tail end of a perfect (26-0) season in 2012.

Cherry jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, using primarily singles and bunts to move runners around the bases.

In the third inning, though, the Tigers broke out the big bats and in a big way. Heidi Olson hit an RBI triple and, two batters later, Angel Dahl smacked a two-run home run that ultimately proved to be the game-winning hit.

Cherry is now (21-2) this season and will play its quarterfinal game at 9:00 a.m. on June 6 against the winner of Section 4 at Caswell Park in Mankato, Minn.
