Cherry, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- One day after she missed out on winning the 2013 Minnesota Ms. Softball award, Cherry senior outfielder Angel Dahl confirmed to NNCNOW.com that she has committed to play at the Division II level with the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD).

Dahl was one of seven finalists named last week for Minnesota Ms. Softball, given each season to the state's top senior player, but found out Sunday she lost out to Orono's Samantha Hartmann.

She then announced her college commitment via Twitter on Monday morning.

"I am now a Bulldog softball player," Dahl wrote, quite matter-of-factly making known her plans for college.

Dahl helped lead the Tigers this season to a (23-3) overall record and a fourth straight Section 7A championship, culminating in the team claiming the MSHSL Class A consolation championship.

She plans to join UMD as a freshman next year, meaning her first season with the Bulldogs will come in the spring of 2014.
