Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) women's basketball team has been picked to finish second in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) preseason coaches' poll, which was released on Thursday morning.

UMD finished last season with an overall record of (18-10) and qualified for the NCAA Division II tournament.

Bulldogs junior guard and Barnum native Katrina Newman was also tabbed on Thursday as the NSIC North preseason player of the year. In her sophomore season, Newman led UMD with 14.4 points and 8.1 rebounds per game.
