'Hounds Hire Smingler as Volleyball Coach

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Samantha Smingler has been named the new head volleyball coach at Duluth East, it was announced on Wednesday afternoon by the school's athletics director Shawn Roed.

Smingler brings 10 years of coaching experience to the Greyhounds, having led several teams to regional championships while coaching at Tuscarora High School in Leesburg, Va.

She earned her B.S in biology from James Madison University in 2009 before then earning a MAT in secondary education from the same institution a year later.

Smingler will take over for Ashley Beseman, who led Duluth East in the 2012 season to an overall record of (16-10) and a spot in the Section 7AAA quarterfinals.
