Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Trey Vavra scored the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning on a wild pitch on Tuesday night, sending the Duluth Huskies to a walk-off win over the Alexandria Blue Anchors at Wade Stadium.

Perhaps it was fitting that Vavra was the one to score the game-winning run for Duluth.

He is the son of Joe Vavra, who is the current third base coach of the Minnesota Twins, and his run beat the team managed by Al Newman, who was the Twins' third base coach from 2002-05.

Vavra was also one of four Duluth players with two hits in the winning effort, with one of the others being University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) freshman Alex Wojciechowski.

UMD sophomore pitcher John Meyer also had a hand in the win, allowing one run and one hit across two innings of work in a relief appearance.

Duluth is now (8-6) this 2013 season and will next be in action on June 12 at 7:05 p.m. on the road against Alexandria.
