Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Esko football team earned its first state tournament trip since 2005 on Thursday night, outlasting Proctor to win 28-26 at Maloksy Stadium in the Section 7AAA championship game.
The Eskomos jumped out to a 20-6 lead in the second half before the Rails rallied to lead 26-20, and it was Esko scoring last to get the win and the state tournament berth.
Esko's quarterfinal game in the MSHSL Class AAA tournament is set for 3:00 p.m. on November 10 at Public Schools Stadium against the winner of Section 8AAA.
