Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) forward Mike Seidel has signed a professional tryout contract with Leksands IF of the Swedish Hockey League (SHL), the team announced on Friday on its website.

Leksands IF qualified through the 2013 Kvalserien for the SHL, which is the top professional league in Sweden and was previously known as the Elitserien.

Seidel played four seasons with UMD, totaling 47 goals and 41 assists in 151 games played across that span and helping the Bulldogs win the 2011 NCAA Division I championship.

The 25-year-old Seidel joins former UMD teammate Jack Connolly in the SHL, with Connolly having also signed after his senior season to play with Farjestad BK.
