Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) quarterback Chase Vogler announced his plans via Twitter on Tuesday to play this summer for the semi-professional Bielefeld Bulldogs in the German Football League. "Excited for something different," Vogler tweeted. "Headed to Germany to play overseas this summer for the Bielefeld Bulldogs. Leaving April 26th." Vogler was the starting quarterback for four seasons with the Bulldogs, leading UMD to three Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) tiles and the 2010 NCAA Division II championship during his tenure. An all-NSIC second team selection in 2012, Vogler completed 169-of-264 passes during his senior season for 2,307 yards and 19 touchdowns. Known just as much for his feet as his arm, Vogler also added 135 rushes for 962 yards and 17 scores during the 2012 season. Bielefeld's first game in the 2013 season is tentatively scheduled for May 5 against Troisdorf, with the regular season schedule stretching into September.
