Ex-Duluth P Melancon Named MLB All-Star

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former Duluth Huskies pitcher Mark Melancon has been named an injury replacement for the 2013 MLB All-Star Game, it was announced on Sunday afternoon.

Melancon is currently a reliever with the Pittsburgh Pirates, owning a 0.81 earned run average (ERA) this 2013 season to go along with 46 strikeouts in 44.1 innings pitched.

Having played for Duluth in the 2004 Northwoods League season, Melancon appeared in seven games for the Huskies and posted a 1.95 ERA while striking out 33 batters in 37 innings pitched.

The 2013 MLB All-Star Game is scheduled to be played July 16 at Citi Field in New York.
