Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Nearly 100 youth soccer players from Bogota, Colombia are spending time in the Northland this week and on Thursday got the chance to play friendly matches against teams from the Duluth, Minn.-based Gitchi Gummi club.

The Colombians are in the United States to play in next week's Schwan's USA Cup, which is put on every summer at the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn.

For players and coaches from the Gitchi Gummi club, the short visit provided a small insight into how the game of soccer is played in different parts of the world.

"Any time we have the opportunity to play international teams, I think it's a great experience for our kids," said Barry Chastey, a Gitchi Gummi coaching advisor. "South Americans play a very different style than the North Americans, so it'll be good to see."

The Colombians arrived in the Northland this past Tuesday and will be staying until Sunday, when they will depart for the USA Cup.
