Gophers' Kessel Wins Patty Kazmaier Award

Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- University of Minnesota junior forward Amanda Kessel has been named the 2013 recipient of the Patty Kazmaier Award, which is given each year to the best player in Division I women's hockey.

Kessel has scored 44 goals and tallied 53 assists this season for the Golden Gophers, helping the team to a perfect (40-0-0) record and a spot in the NCAA Division I championship.

The Madison, Wis. native is the second University of Minnesota player to win the award, with the other being Krissy Wendall in 2005.
