Hawks Battle Back, Claim LSC Championship

Hermantown, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Hermantown volleyball team was one game away from losing the match and the Lake Superior Conference (LSC) championship --- but then the Hawks rattled off three straight games to stun Cloquet in a battle of the conference's top teams.

Cloquet won the first two games 25-21 and 25-19 before falling the final three by scores of 25-18, 25-22, and 15-6 and seeing Hermantown claim the conference championship on its home floor.

Hailey Menzel paced the Hawks with 20 kills in the match, with Kaitlyn Paczynski adding 12 and Carley Hansen 11 as part of the winning effort.

The Lumberjacks were led in nearly ever facet by Alex Oakes, who finished with 19 set assists, 12 digs, nine kills, and five blocks.

Hermantown is now (19-7) overall this season and (6-0) in the LSC, with Cloquet also (19-7) overall but (5-1) in the LSC.
