Hawks, 'Toppers, Blue Devils, Hunters Advance

(NNCNOW.com) --- The Section 7A boys' hockey playoffs got underway on Friday with the four top-seeds (Hermantown, Duluth Marshall, Virginia-Mountain Iron-Bhul, and Duluth Denfeld) all winning in their quarterfinal match-ups ahead of Saturday's semifinals.

The Hawks had no problem with International Falls as senior captain Scott Wasbotten led Hermantown with a hat-trick in the 9-0 win.

The second-seeded Hilltoppers cruised past North Shore 6-1 thanks to five first-period goals.

The third-seeded Blue Devils ousted sixth-seeded Eveleth-Gilbert 5-2 and will take on Duluth Marshall on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Hibbing.

The fourth-seeded Hunters came back from a two-goal deficit to get by fifth-seeded Hibbing 5-4. Duluth Denfeld will face Hermantown on Saturday at 7:30 in Grand Rapids.
