Minneapolis, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Duluth Marshall boys' soccer team bounced back from a 5-0 loss in the MSHSL Class A semifinals to beat St. Cloud Cathedral 2-1 on Tuesday morning, winning third place at the state tournament.
Joe Fairbanks and Bryan Wines scored goal for the Hilltoppers, and goalkeeper Joe Gall made 10 saves in the winning effort.
St. Cloud Cathedral scored its lone goal of the game midway through the second half to make it 2-1, but that was as close as they got. The Crusdaers did outshoot the Hilltoppers 25-5 in the game.
Duluth Marshall, which was making its first state tournament appearance since winning the Class A title in 2008, ends the season with an overall mark of (12-6-4).
