Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The top-seeded Duluth East boys' hockey team weathered an early storm from fourth-seeded Grand Rapids in Saturday's Section 7AA semifinals 5-2 to advance to Thursday's section championship.

Mr. Hockey finalist Avery Peterson gave the Thunderhawks a one-goal lead early in the opening period before the Greyhounds responded with four unanswered goals.

Alex Adams cut it to a two-goal game in the third period before senior captain Alex Trapp sealed the deal for the Greyhounds with less than three minutes to play.

Duluth East will try for its sixth consecutive trip to the state tournament on Thursday night against No. 2 seed Elk River-Zimmerman.
