Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Lakeville South sophomore forward Nick Swaney has committed to play his college hockey at the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD), he announced on Monday via his Twitter account.

"I'm proud and excited to announce I've committed to play college hockey at the University of Minnesota Duluth," Swaney wrote.

In his freshman season at Lakeville South, Swaney totaled 13 goals and 15 assists in 28 games played while helping the team to the Section 1AA championship game.

Swaney did not announce which year he plans to start with UMD, but he would be eligible as a true freshman to play in the 2017-18 season.
