Minot, ND (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Running backs Logan Lauters and Brian Lucas each had two touchdowns on Saturday afternoon as the #9-ranked University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) football team rolled to a 44-6 win over Minot State.
Austin Sikorski was the team's leading rusher, gaining 106 yards and adding a score for the Bulldogs in the winning effort. As a team, UMD finished with 288 yards on the ground and 202 yards through the air.
The game was the first-ever meeting between UMD and Minot State, with the Beavers being a newcomer this season to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC).
UMD scored 41 points in the first half on Saturday afternoon, including senior captain Cameron Harper returning an interception 75 yards to score late in the first half.
The Bulldogs are now (6-1) this season and will next be in action October 20 when they host Bemidji State, with kickoff in that one set for 1:00 p.m. at Malosky Stadium.
