Grand Rapids, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Grand Rapids-Greenway girl's hockey team will play in the Class A state quarterfinals on Thursday against #2-seed Roseville, that being the Lightning's third trip to the state tournament.
That game is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, and the players say they are thrilled for the chance to play on the big stage.
The Lightning are Section 7AA champions this year after a four overtime win over Elk River-Zimmerman in the section championship.
Molly Illikainen scored the game-winning goal for the Lightning, and Sydney Helmbrecht made 46 saves to help lead the team to that section title.
