St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Wild made qualifying offers to five players on Monday afternoon, including former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) forward Justin Fontaine, meaning they will stay as restricted free agents this summer.

The other players to be offered qualifying offers by Minnesota on Monday were defenseman Jonathon Blum, goaltender Darcy Kuemper, forward Nino Niederreiter, and forward Jason Zucker.

Other teams would now have to offer the Wild draft picks as compensation should they sign any of these players to a contract.
