Moose Lake, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The International Watercross Association (IWA) kicked off its 2014 season at the 6th Annual Moose Lake Grand Prix on Saturday with more than 60 racers taking part at the Moose Lake City Park.
The watercross, which started in Grantsburgh, Wisc., features snowmobile racers on water. This year, Moose Lake added a women's only oval race along with more than 90 heat races on Saturday alone.
Sunday will wrap up the racing action with finals in the six different classes.
"It's just something you have to come see, something you have to come see," said Moose Lake Grand Prix President Dean Weske. "It's amazing how they can make these things turn and accelerate as fast as they do."
"It's just like skipping a rock because rocks sink if you stop, but it's a self-propelled rock so you get to keep going," said Pro Open Oval racer Joey Strub.
Racing will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday and finish around 4:00 p.m.
