Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The Minnesota Twins have signed manager Ron Gardenhire to a two-year contract extension, it was officially announced by team officials on Monday afternoon.

Minnesota finished with an overall record of (66-96) in the 2013 season, marking the third straight season the club has lost 96 or more games under Gardenhire.

Since arriving in 2002, Gardenhire has led the Twins to an overall record of (998-947) while winning six AL Central Division titles and advancing to one AL Championship Series.

A news conference is scheduled today for 2:30 p.m. CT, where it is expected Gardenhire will answer questions about remaining with Minnesota through the 2015 season.
