Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Increasing his lead as the leading NFL's leading rusher this season, Adrian Peterson had 171 yards and a touchdown on Sunday afternoon as his Minnesota Vikings beat the Detroit Lions 34-24 at Mall of America Field.
Chants of "M-V-P" could be heard from the home crowd as Peterson rushed for 120 yards in the fourth quarter alone, helping the Vikings enter the team's bye week on a positive note.
Quarterback Christian Ponder was much better than in weeks past, finishing 24-of-32 passing for 221 yards and two touchdowns in the winning effort for Minnesota.
The Vikings are now (5-1) at home and (6-4) overall heading into the bye week, and the team will next be in action November 25 at Chicago.
