St. Paul, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Jason Pominville has signed a five-year extension with the Minnesota Wild, the team announced on Thursday just hours before the 2013-14 season and home opener against Los Angeles at the Xcel Energy Center.

This season will mark the first full campaign in a Wild sweater for Pominville, whom Minnesota acquired in a trade deadline deal last season with the Buffalo Sabres.

He played just 10 regular season games with Minnesota last year, but he finished that span with four goals and five assists. The 30-year-old forward has played 588 games across his career, collecting 189 goals and 276 assists in that time.

He will open 2013-14 skating on Minnesota's top line with Mikko Koivu and Zach Parise, with the season opener set for 7:00 p.m. Thursday against the visiting Kings.
