Minneapolis, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Christian Ponder will be the starting quarterback of the Minnesota Vikings for a second consecutive week, it was confirmed on Friday afternoon by head coach Leslie Frazier.
Ponder will get the start Sunday afternoon against the Dallas Cowboys, Frazier said, getting the nod over Matt Cassel and Josh Freeman.
"We're in the business of winning games," Frazier said. "Christian gives us the best chance to win, and that's how we're going to approach it.
In his four starts this season, including last week's loss to Green Bay, Ponder has completed 60.3 percent of his passes for 836 yards, two touchdowns, and five interceptions.
He was benched following an (0-3) start in favor of Cassel, but he earned the job back after free agent signing Freeman suffered a concussion in his first game with Minnesota.
Freeman was not medically cleared to play in the game against the Packers, but he was practicing this week and seemingly was competing to be named this week's starter.
Frazier declined to say whether it would be Cassel of Freeman handling the primary backup duties on Sunday, but Cassel seemed to be taking more of the snaps this week during the portions of practice open to reporters.
