Proctor, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- The Proctor Rails will field an official high school wrestling team beginning in the 2012-13 school year, it was announced on Tuesday.
The North Shore Wrestling Club (NSWC), created five years ago, was approved this week by the Proctor School Board to form the team to compete in the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).
The team will be on probation for the first two years, meaning the school board can decide to eliminate the program if it doesn't meet expectations.
The wrestling season runs from November until March, and Proctor is hopeful to have local schools such as Cloquet, Hibbing, and Grand Rapids on its schedule next year.
The NSWC currently has about 60 wrestlers, both boys and girls, and will act as a feeder system for the Proctor team.
