Duluth, MN (Northland's NewsCenter) --- Joel Rumpel made 29 saves on Friday night as the Wisconsin men's hockey team earned a 2-0 win over the #14-ranked University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) at AMSOIL Arena. Tyler Barnes and Michael Mersch both scored a goal for Wisconsin in the winning effort, marking the Badgers' first victory of the 2012-13 season. Mersch's goal was originally credited to Mark Zengerle but changed on Saturday morning when officials determined Mersch had tipped the original shot from the point. Freshman goaltender Matt McNeely took his first collegiate loss for UMD, stopping 24 shots and allowing the two goals. The Bulldogs are now (2-3-0) this season and will face the Badgers again on Saturday night, with that game set for 7:07 p.m. at AMSOIL Arena. Posted by Zach Schneider Bio - Facebook - Twitter - E-Mail
