(NNCNOW.com) --- St. Scholastica has been picked third and Northland seventh in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) men's basketball preseason coaches' poll, which was released on Tuesday afternoon. The Saints finished second in the conference during the regular season a year ago, that before losing to Northwestern in the semifinals of the UMAC postseason tournament. After posting a (13-13) overall record in the 2011-12 season, St. Scholastica returns four starters from that team to lead the charge in the new season. Northland, meanwhile, enters the new season with a new head coach in Scott Sorenson. He had spent the last six as an assistant coach at the Division II level, including the last four with Minnesota-Crookston. The Lumberjacks return three starters from a team that posted a (5-20) overall record a year ago and finished seventh in the UMAC.
