Saints Fall in NCAAs, Remain in Contention

Whitewater, Wis. (NNCNOW.com) --- The #6-seeded St. Scholastica baseball team fell 3-1 on Thursday afternoon to #4-seeded Case Western at the NCAA Division III Midwest regional tournament, putting the Saints now one loss away from elimination.

Duluth, Minn. native Parker Olson had the lone RBI for St. Scholastica, that coming on a fielder's choice in the sixth inning to score Kyle Flagstad.

Flagstad was the offensive leader for the Saints, joining International Falls, Minn. native Jake Casareto as the only St. Scholastica players to register multiple hits --- each were 2-for-4 in the loss.

Andy Davis took the loss on the pitcher's mound for the Saints, allowing all three earned runs on four hits across 6.2 innings pitched. Canyon, Minn. native Daniel Wood and Duluth, Minn. native Zach Farmer then combined to throw 2.1 innings of scoreless relief.

St. Scholastica is now (1-1) in the Midwest regional tournament and will next face either #3 seeded-UW-Whitewater or #2-seeded UW-Stevens Point. That game is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on May 17 at Prucha Field in Whitewater, Wis.
