Saints' Kotyk Announces UMD Commitment

Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- St. Scholastica freshman defenseman Brenden Kotyk has announced via Twitter his commitment to play for the University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) Bulldogs starting in the 2013-14 season.

"BIg thanks to all St.Scholastica coaches, staff, and most of all the boys for a great first year of college!" Kotyk tweeted. "Excited to become a UMD Bulldog."

Kotyk will make the jump from Division III to Division I after just one season with St. Scholastica, totaling seven goals and 12 assists in that freshman campaign.

The defenseman confirmed the news on Friday morning, saying he plans on using a redshirt season next year with the Bulldogs.
