Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The St. Scholastica baseball team won twice on Friday, meaning the Saints will now play on Saturday with a chance to win the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) postseason championship.
St. Scholastica first beat Martin Luther 10-0, with Andy Davis going all seven innings not allowing a run. International Falls, Minn. native Jake Casareto led the Saints offensively, hitting 3-for-4 with two runs batted in and two runs scored.
The Saints then beat Northwestern 6-4 in game two to advance to the championship round, with Kyle Jensen earning the win after going 7.2 innings while allowing just two earned runs.
Casareto again led the team at the plate, hitting 2-for-3 with two runs batted in and a run scored. Cloquet, Minn. native Thomas Rogers earned the save, pitching the final 1.1 innings in the win.
Martin Luther and Northwestern will play at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at Wade Stadium, with the winner advancing to the championship round to face the Saints.
Because of the double elimination format, St. Scholastica needs to win only once to claim the UMAC title while its opponent must win twice. The first game is scheduled for 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Wade Stadium.
