Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- The St. Scholastica women's soccer team has been picked as a unanimous favorite in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC), that according to a preseason poll of league coaches released on Tuesday.
The Saints received all seven possible first-place votes, that as the program tries this fall to add to its current streak of nine consecutive UMAC championships.
Duluth, Minn. native and two-time defending UMAC offensive player of the year Kelsey Kehtel is back for the Saints, that after having become the first player in program history to have put up back-to-back 20-goal seasons.
Kehtel last season earned a spot on the all-Central Region first team, while fellow returners, defender Logan Williamson and goalkeeper Kelsey Reeves, were selected last year to the second team.
St. Scholastica has also qualified for five of the past six NCAA Division III tournaments, and players said Tuesday the immediate goal this season is to qualify for the Sweet 16 round of that tournament.
