Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Former University of Minnesota-Duluth (UMD) All-American defenseman Norm Maciver will bring the Stanley Cup to AMSOIL Arena on Oct. 4, the school's athletic department announced on Tuesday.

Maciver is the assistant general manager of the NHL's Chicago Blackhawks, the team that won the Stanley Cup following the lockout-shortened 2012-13 season.

The trophy will be on display from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. in the AMSOIL Arena concourse, with admission being free to fans interested in seeing the Cup.

The viewing session will precede the 2013 season opener for the UMD women's team, which will come at 6:07 p.m. against the University of Connecticut.
