Duluth, MN (NNCNOW.com) --- Sophomore Tyler Bruggeman recorded his first collegiate shutout and freshman Derek Sutliffe netted the game-winner late in the third period as St. Scholastica beat Concordia University 1-0 on Friday night.

The Saints took game one of the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association (NCHA) Harris Cup quarterfinal. Falcons goaltender Domingo Torrenueva stopped 39 shots while both teams were a combined 0-3 on the power-play.

Game two of the series will be Saturday at 7:00 p.m. at Mars Lakeview Arena. St. Scholastica needs a win or a tie to advance to the semifinals. If Concordia wins, then a 20-minute mini-game will immediately follow game two.
